A New York Metropolitan Transit Authority worker is facing drunk driving charges and has been suspended from duty without pay after the bus he was driving allegedly crashed into a row of parked cars in Brooklyn during the early morning hours of Aug. 5. None of the nine passengers on board at the time suffered injuries according to media reports. Police say that the accident took place near the intersection of East 56th Street and Flatlands Avenue at approximately 1:30 a.m.

A 52-year-old New York man was charged with two felonies following a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway on July 16. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when New York State Police troopers observed the man in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado committing a traffic violation.

A 79-year-old woman crashed her vehicle into a restaurant in Westchester County at about 7:45 p.m. on May 6, according to New York police. The restaurant was Enzo’s on Mamaroneck Avenue, and the crash left nine people injured. Four of the victims suffered critical injuries, and one victim was treated at the scene while eight others were sent to the hospital for care. Nobody who worked for the restaurant was hurt in the accident.

Two individuals were taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Putnam County within three days of each other. The first arrest, which took place during the early morning hours of April 21, occurred on Route 6 in Southeast. The second, which occurred on Oscawana Lake Road, happened on the evening of April 23. One New York man is facing drunk driving charges after he was allegedly found passed out in the driver’s seat of the car on March 9, 2018. The 23-year-old man from Westmoreland was found after a call came into local police, reporting that a driver was laying over the steering wheel of a car while stopped at Lawrence Street and Dix Road. The man had been found by a driver for the Westmoreland Department of Public Works; after encountering the vehicle blocking the roadway, the driver attempted to wake the man but failed.

Throughout the state of New York, law enforcement at all levels will be out over the weekend of March 16 to March 18 as part of the state’s STOP-DWI crackdown. The aim of the event is to have fewer injuries and deaths related to impaired driving.

A New York Jets linebacker was the driver of a vehicle that caused an accident in the Lincoln Tunnel on Feb. 26. An officer said that a Dodge Charger was weaving around traffic cones and going the wrong way when it swerved into a middle lane and collided with a bus. Of the 15 people on the bus at the time of the accident, four sustained injuries and were taken to Hoboken University Medical Center.
