About Judge Kamins

The Hon. Barry Kamins has extensive experience in representing attorneys before disciplinary and grievance committees in connection with lawyer discipline proceedings, reinstatements, and matters related to bar admission. Prior to taking the bench in 2008, Judge Kamins chaired the Grievance Committee for the Second and Eleventh Judicial Districts, which hears complaints against lawyers in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. In addition, he chaired the New York State Bar Association committee on professional discipline. After his term as chairman ended, Judge Kamins developed a practice in representing attorneys who were required to appear before various disciplinary committees with the First and Second Departments. In addition, her represented candidates for bar admission who had difficulty with being admitted and had to appear before the Character and Fitness Committee. Finally, Judge Kamins has represented suspended or disbarred attorneys who seek to be reinstated to practice law.
