28 Oct Man sentenced to prison for driving a tractor while drunk
A 35-year-old resident of Lowville has been sentenced for charges related to driving a tractor through a town while intoxicated. The Upstate New York man received a prison term of 1 1/3 to 4 years. After he is released, he must serve five years of probation. He was also assessed $750 in court-related costs and a $1,000 fine. His driver’s license has also been revoked for a term of one year.
Following the incident, which occurred March 5 in Lowville, the man was charged with a list of offenses, which included a felony charge of driving while intoxicated, illegal signaling and second-degree harassment. He was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and the failure to wear a headlamp. After submitting a guilty plea to the DWI charge on Aug. 12, the remaining charges were satisfied.
An additional unusual drunk driving incident occurred in New York on the other side of the state. A 58-year-old woman was pulled over in Niagara Falls for being suspected of driving while drunk. Law enforcement officials discovered a highly intoxicated woman in the driver’s seat wearing no pants or underclothes and a half-empty bottle of tequila on the floor of the passenger seat.
