21 Apr #ABKLaw NEWS: Partner Michael Jaccarino, Esq. securing ABKLaw client release from federal prison at Otisville following COVID-19 concerns
While the press has been reporting this week that Michael Cohen – Donald Trump’s former lawyer, as well as former Republican State Senate Majority Dean Skelos, will be released from federal prison, another Aidala, Bertuna & Kamins client will also be released. These releases, along with many others, are occurring because of concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus in the upstate medium-security federal prison at Otisville. At Otisville, 16 inmates and 9 staff members have tested positive for the virus. Our client, who began serving a sentence in September, will begin a 14-day quarantine today to ensure that he does not have the virus. Following this, he will be released to serve the remainder of his sentence on home confinement. This is a huge relief and victory for our client, who has suffered from asthma since childhood, and who was prescribed an Albuterol inhaler inside of the prison. We salute the compassion of the prison and the Attorney General who are taking steps to prevent inmate deaths as this pandemic worsens. Our lawyers continue to fight for the release of several of our clients and are available to assist any families throughout the State who are worried about the health and safety of their imprisoned loved ones.
