‘STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The controversial trial-by-combat lawyer facing money laundering and kidnapping charges in an alleged scrap-metal fraud scheme agreed to a plea agreement Monday afternoon in Brooklyn Federal Court.
Richard Luthmann, 39, agreed to plead guilty to a count of wire fraud conspiracy and a count of extortion conspiracy in a written agreement with the government.
