Caitlyn Carmichael has a legal background in both Criminal and Civil Law, spanning Criminal and Civil Defense, Appellate Law, Trusts and Estates and Family Law. Caitlyn’s work has focused on Civil Law, including Personal Injury, Toxic Tort Defense and Trusts and Estates Law. She earned her Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law.
Caitlyn’s practice is grounded in meticulous legal research, case preparation, and advocacy, with hands-on experience in civil law defense strategy. She has assisted in trial preparation, attended depositions, and developed legal strategy supporting complex civil litigation.
Caitlyn interned at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, where she honed her skills in trial preparation, handling discovery and other pre-litigation matters, such as reviewing evidence, investigative work, and attending pre-trial motions and meetings with defense counsel to facilitate prosecution. Caitlyn prepared timelines, case summaries, and compiled and organized exhibits during trial preparation.
Caitlyn also has worked in Trusts & Estates Law, handling both estate administration and litigation. Caitlyn has managed complex estate administration, working closely with executors, trustees, and financial institutions to ensure seamless estate settlement. This has included preparing and filing inheritance tax returns, coordinating with beneficiaries on probate matters, and overseeing estate distributions. Caitlyn has prepared wills, trusts, and estate planning documents to facilitate estate administration and compliance, and also worked on complex estate litigation matters, including at the appellate level.
