Lawrence Taylor sentenced to 6 years of probation

Disgraced former gridiron great Lawrence Taylor was sentenced today to six years of probation after a judge refused to allow a teenage prostitute to speak at the hearing.

The ex-Giants football star pleaded guilty in January to sexual misconduct and having sex with a 16-year-old prostitute in Rockland County.

The girl, now 17, appeared in a New City courtroom with her lawyer Gloria Allred.

Allred said the girl wanted to read a victim-impact statement, but the judge said victims are entitled to speak only at a felony sentencing.

The judge pointed out that Taylor had pleaded guilty to misdemeanors.

Prosecutor Arthur Ferraro said Taylor’s deal without jail time was facilitated in part because he provided information “in the field of human trafficking in several jurisdictions and with federal authorities.”

Taylor has said he thought the girl was 19.

Taylor, 51, will also have to register as a sex offender, but the judge postponed until April 12 to determine what level of sex offender will be assigned to him.

Before taking the deal, Taylor had faced four years in the slammer under the original felony statutory-rape charges.

Taylor’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, has said he plans to argue against Taylor’s having to register as a Level 1, or low-risk, sex offender, as recommended under New York’s Megan’s Law Statute.

If he does have to register, Taylor, who lives in Florida, would be required to check in annually with law enforcement.

After the hearing, Allred and the teen — identified in court and by her lawyer only by her initials C.F. — held a news conference.

The teen denied being a hooker and said another man forced her to go to Taylor’s hotel room in May 2010.

She said Taylor could tell she had been beaten and that she was underage, adding that he took “something precious” from her and should be in jail.
