Former Fox News analyst eyes DA office

Former Fox News legal analyst Arthur Aidala wants to be an elected official.

The former head of the Brooklyn Bar Association filed paperwork with the State Board of Elections to form an exploratory committee for a run for city or statewide office — most likely Brooklyn district attorney.

Aidala, whose clients have included football players Lawrence Taylor and Tiki Barber, would likely be challenging Eric Gonzalez, who was appointed acting Brooklyn DA by Gov. Cuomo after Ken Thompson died of cancer in October. Gonzalez is expected to run and be the overwhelming favorite.

“It depends on how much money Aidala’s able to raise,” said one associate. “He could also run for public advocate or state attorney general.” Those races would require a bigger war chest.

Democrat Aidala kicks off fund-raising on Thursday, his 49th birthday, with a letter he’s sending out to hundreds of potential donors. “And he’ll be on the phone, dialing for dollars,” said my source.

Aidala had plenty of deep-pocketed friends at his lavish Plaza hotel wedding in May to fellow lawyer Marianne Bertuna, including Alan Dershowitz, and Fox News colleagues Geraldo Rivera and Shepard Smith.

Dershowitz will introduce Aidala at a Jan. 9 fund-raiser at Buzzy O’Keeffe’s Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn.

Aidala was inspired to seek office by Donald Trump’s election. “It showed how voters want an outsider who can disrupt the status quo,” said my source.
