Giants great Taylor indicted on rape charges

Former Giants great Lawrence Taylor was indicted today on charges of raping a 16-year-old hooker in Rockland County.

Taylor, 51, a Hall of Famer with a drug-plagued past, was slapped with felony rape, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and other charges in the May 6 incident.

The ex-linebacker had sexual intercourse and oral sex with the girl at a Ramapo Holiday Inn, paying her $300, prosecutors said.

Taylor, who lives in Pembroke Pines, Fla., is free on $75,000 bail. He faces a maximum four years in state prison if convicted.

“The defendant in this case is the end-user in the criminal chain known as sex trafficking,” said Rockland County DA Thomas Zugibe in a statement.

The girl, a Bronx runaway, told prosecutors she was screamed at and assaulted after the incident by the alleged pimp who brought her to the hotel, Rasheed Davis, 36. Davis was later arrested by the NYPD.

Taylor’s next court date is July 13.

Taylor’s agent, Mark Lepselter, told The Post today, “The bottom line is, there was no surprise” from the indictment. “We weren’t blind-sided.”

Lepselter said that Taylor’s lawyer, “Arthur Aidala, and the rest of the defense team made a conscientious decision and strategic decision not to put Lawrence or any of the [defense’s] evidence before the grand jury” that handed up the indictment.

“We are looking forward to the legal process taking place in court,” Lepselter said. “We expect Lawrence to be in court sometime within the next two weeks.”

“We remain optimistic that in the end, Lawrence will come out the other side as well as possible.”
