Geraldo Rivera’s son got time served in his Manhattan domestic abuse case Wednesday, a year after taking a jail-free plea deal.
Cruz Rivera, 31, previously agreed to undergo counseling and had to attend a court-administered “batterer’s program” in order to get his misdemeanor assault plea wiped.
On Wednesday, a judge made it official and sealed his case in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Cruz Rivera, whose famous father is a Fox News mainstay, was accused of choking his longtime girlfriend Meghan Burke at his Washington Heights apartment on April 28, 2018.
Burke, who was 26 at the time of the assault, had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Rivera for nine years.
He was charged with a second choking assault, stemming from a May 1 spat, but his plea to misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct covered both incidents.
In court, he admitted to Judge Phyllis Chu that he tried to harm Burke “by biting her and pushing her to the floor.”
A restraining order was set in her favor at the time of his plea. Rivera faced six months in jail if he failed to meet the terms of his agreement.
